Geyser del Tatio and journey to Arica

7 december 2016 - Santiago, Chili

Early up (2 days ago) at 4.00 am to go to the Geysers situated at 4250 mt altitude.

Geysers were fine, a lot less impressive than those from yelliwstone but the hights and the darkness contributed to the charm and the special feeling of the Andes. After the Geysers, a visit to the village where I tasted lama meat for the very first time (so as a good french girl I made a wish).

At 12.00 return to the hotel where a lesser surprise was expecting us...from the owners we weren't allowed to wait in or outside the hotel until our nightbus to Arica was going to leave. We had to kill 8 and a half hours downtown, we couldn't even use the hamaks any longer. Also they wanted to dump us in the desert 1.5 hour before bus departure.

I argued a little with the man as arguyinh longer was pointless and frustrating as he seemed nit to understand the situation and was only after making lots of cash and never trying to make it a win/win situation. They were even coming at night in your room to put the breakfast on your bed, I disagree with the fact he wanted to come at night, also they would bring you yoghurt and ham which had been outside the fridge for hours...you need to have a solid stomach, eyes like an hawk (as they also safe on lights at night to walk down the small hill in the dark and an patience of an angel to stay in this place which is highly rated because of the large rooms and the fantastic view.

I will not spare them in my booking and tripadvisor comment. So far to early at the station where we finally got into the nightbus to Arica and slept with all the valuables stucked to our bodies...and arrived smelly in Arica. Shower time!!!
